Trivia Night 2013

Saturday night, Ken and I went to our 3rd trivia night here in Ankeny.  I think we went to 2 or 3 in Newburgh as well.  Our table theme was the 70s.  (My t-shirt has a peace symbol :0)

We had a great time.  I knew very few answers, but did get "what street in Iowa claims to be the USA's most crooked (as in bendy) street?".....Burlington of course.

The woman to the left of the woman in the pink dress was college room-makes with J.O. who was in my Mother to Mother group in Indiana.  Jen made the introduction via email before I moved here, but we would have met eventually anyway...and did the day that S. sat in front of me in church and we figured out who the other person was.  S. is in my Faith and Friendship group here.  (similar group - different name)
RE: our costumes.....I had everything in my closet (thanks to the peace t-shirt hand - me down from my sweet niece), but Ken had to hit the Goodwill for his cool threads (wide-whale corduroy pants and wide collar gold shirt).  His clothes are headed right back to the Goodwill (well actually to my friend's church where they do a clothes give away....but you catch my drift).  I love the peace t-shirt and will wear it again....although not with the cool pants, head-band and denim coat.

For the record - I might not have known my trivia - but I did win $100 in the heads and tails contest....(hands on your head or tail, flip a coin - stay standing if you are right, sit down if you are wrong)  I was the last one up out of approximately 270 people - no skill - and I just did what my table suggested.  I gave a majority of it back to the preschool (the night was their fundraiser) because someone kept yelling "give it back give it back" - no pressure.  I shared the remaining $25 with my table-mates since they guided me!

Ok - trivia buffs.  What country is east of Morocco?

(Algeria of course.....not that I knew that last night - but Ken did)

Word of the Year 2013

Gratitude.

I love it when my kids appreciate what they have been given or what has been done for them.  I am happier when I think about all I have been blessed with!  Gratitude = happiness all over my world!

Go appreciation!
