"Head"line news

Don't you wish your camera could take pictures this fast and clear?
Me too!
We are so lucky to have a person in Matthew's scout troop who takes pictures at many of the events.  Double lucky because his boys are on Matthew's soccer team.

Matthew had a great game Sunday and the photographer mentioned above shared 200 photos from the game with the team.  After I thanked him for sharing, he sent Matthew's photos in high resolution.  I can't want to see these in print!  (P.S.  Matthew came up with the cheesie name for this post...gotta love it!)

Spring Day of Fun

We had the first day of perfect weather here on Saturday.
We started the day with a ride on horses.  The owners of this charity give all proceeds to Camp Sunnyside and donated the use of their horses for the day.  Fun to ride, nice to donate.

Last time I road a horse was before Matthew was born.  Joel and Carolyn have ridden here in Iowa, but this was Anna's first ride.  (the picture above....later she road with me too)  She wasn't hesitant at all.  Jumped right up.  I brought her with me on my ride, since it seemed wrong to be a 43 year old on a horse ride around the Earl May parking lot.  I still didn't want to pass up the chance - stay young - right?
After the horse ride we went to "Healthy Family Day" at the Y, which was cool....followed by a quick stop at the Cub scout recruiting event Ken and Matthew were working at, then dashing off to Joel's baseball game (need to get some pictures next time).  Later we went to church and Anna and Joel road bikes (Anna is now training wheel free.....she started last year, but this year thought she wanted them back on, but when the training wheels weren't found quickly enough.....off she went.  (again - I need to get a photo of the fun)

That night Anna said something like, "this great day of fun should never end".  It was pretty awesome.  Fajitas made by Ken finished out the night with some yum!

It is that time of year again.

The great clothing swap - winter going to summer. Of course we are still wearing winter coats today - but it certainly is going to warm up some day - right?  Plus on top of the usual swap, my storage room is a disaster.

I had to search again to find this blog entry....to remind myself that I can get back here.

I am not pointing fingers, but most of the stuff-ola belongs to the kids and they haven't really been pulling their weight in the "purge-junk" department.  I am giving them a warning today and then I am having at it.  If they can't keep their stuff cleaned up, well then, they need less stuff.  I actually started purging last month (many many totes gone - clothing and toys) and took another trip to the "truck" (St.Vincent de Paul Thrift shop has a truck in the parking lot of our church) this weekend.

Yes we have no bananas (I mean Barbies).  They haven't been played with in 8 months - goodbye!

Why am I writing this post....well to avoid cleaning I guess - ha ha.  No really - I need encouragement.  Let me know if you have any good "storage room cleaning tips" and how you get rid of gifts others have given/toys that are sentimental, but not played with anymore.....etc.

Stepping back into the water slowly....

What water is that are you asking?

Well both the blogging and crafting water of course.
I have had 2 sick kids (so far) this week and so I missed work on Monday.  I made this little tiny pyramid bag for my administrative assistant and filled it will Life Savers to thank her for rescheduling everyone and for checking to make sure everything is in order for tomorrow.  Isn't it cute!  I got the idea from:
http://needlingthings.blogspot.com/2011/08/triangular-ort-thread-catcher.html
when I was searching for a pattern to make a little fabric bag.  I wasn't really looking to do something this small, but it was cute and easy.  (I am giving her more Life Savers so she can refill it.)

Next I will post wedding pictures - but that requires more than taking a quick picture on my IPad.
