Joel (far right) gave blood for the first time! (He volunteered to go with me last Saturday, but then baseball was called back in session and I didn't want him to pass out in the hot sun and so Matthew pinched-hit for him.) I had to take a picture from far away, since I was allowed to check him in, then had to wait outside. He plans to give again after cross country season. The blood center's church host said that Joel was the youngest he could remember in his many years. Proud that this doesn't freak him out....even as a 2 year-old he was so brave with shots (Carolyn declined the opportunity to donate, but since she once passed out getting a flu shot, it might be for the best.)
